Barrow and Bolton Wanderers will get their EFL Trophy campaigns underway when they meet at Holker Street in Northern section Group D on Tuesday.
League Two Barrow have impressed so far this season, winning three of their opening four league fixtures and progressing to the third round of the EFL Cup, where a mouth-watering away tie with Chelsea awaits later this month.
Bolton will also face a glamour away trip in the EFL Cup after being pitted against Arsenal in that competition, but one win in four League One games so far this season is not what Ian Evatt would have been hoping for from his side.
Evatt will be in familiar surroundings on Tuesday, as he spent two years in charge of Barrow, guiding them back to the EFL after a 48-year absence in 2020 before leaving for Bolton.
Barrow v Bolton Wanderers will be available to watch on Sky Sports +.
This EFL Trophy group stage clash will kick-off at 19:45 on Tuesday 3rd September and will be played at Barrow's Holker Street home.
Barrow have won three of their opening four League Two matches this season and have progressed to the third round of the EFL Cup after seeing off first Port Vale and then Championship outfit Derby.
The Bluebirds have kept three successive clean-sheets heading into this game, but they do not have a great record in the EFL Trophy, only making it beyond the group stage once in four previous attempts.
Bolton have made an underwhelming start to the season in League One, winning just once in four matches and that sole success came on the opening weekend of the campaign at Leyton Orient.
Wanderers do have previous in the EFL Trophy, going all the way in the competition for the second time in their history in 2023.
This will be the second time these two sides have met in the EFL Trophy, with Bolton claiming a 3-2 second-round success in November 2022.

Winger Connor Mahoney and defender Rory Feely both missed Saturday's win at Harrogate through injury and are expected to remain sidelined for this one alongside defensive trio Mazeed Ogungbo, Chris Stokes and Sam Barnes.
Evatt could opt to rotate his starting XI for this one, particularly following Saturday's 2-0 home loss to Exeter, with the likes of Jay Matete, Victor Adeboyejo and Aaron Collins hoping to come into the starting line-up.
