AZ Alkmaar are looking like the likeliest challengers to PSV’s dominance in the Eredivisie and they will be hoping their domestic form helps them when they host Elfsborg in their UEFA Europa League opener.
De Kaasboeren have won five of their opening six league matches this season, scoring an impressive 16 goals in the process.
Swedish side Elfsborg, meanwhile, have dropped down the Allsvenskan in recent weeks after a slight dip in form and are now three points behind the top three.
AZ Alkmaar v Elfsborg is available to watch live in the UK and will be broadcast on TNT Sports 3.
AZ Alkmaar v Elfsborg will take place at the AFAS Stadion in Alkmaar, Netherlands on Wednesday 25th September 2024, with kick-off due for 17:45 (BST).
This is the first ever meeting between the two sides, with this being Elfsborg’s debut fixture against a Dutch club.
AZ Alkmaar’s best finish in this competition came in 1981 - when the tournament was still named the UEFA Cup - where they were beaten by Ipswich Town 5-4 on aggregate over a two-legged final.
Elfsborg, meanwhile, have never progressed beyond the group stages or first round of this tournament, with their last appearance past the qualifying rounds coming in the 2013/14 campaign.
