Atalanta v Juventus: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Atalanta and Juventus face-off for the Coppa Italia trophy on Wednesday evening in a repeat of the 2021 final.

Gian Piero Gasperini will be seeking revenge after Juve's 2-1 victory three years ago, while Massimiliano Allegri will be keen to salvage something from a poor season by landing silverware in the Italian capital.

With plenty on the line, it promises to be a tight game at the Stadio Olimpico.

Atalanta v Juventus betting tips and predictions

Draw @ 21/10

Atalanta will be confident coming into this tie given their excellent run of form. Gasperini's side have won six times in a seven-match unbeaten run, with impressive victories over Fiorentina, Marseille and Roma included in that streak.

This final represents the first of two for La Dea, who also made the Europa League showpiece last week following a 4-1 aggregate victory over Marseille, and they will be keen to get the taste for silverware ahead of that clash with Leverkusen by getting revenge on Juventus.

However, while their form is excellent, Juve are the masters of this competition having lifted the trophy a record 14 times, and that experience could hold them in good stead in Rome.

Allegri himself is a four-time winner of the Coppa Italia and if anybody can squeeze an extra bit of talent out of his out-of-form side on the biggest stage, it is him.

Juve are winless in their last six matches, which does not represent ideal preparation for a final, but there are some positives to take from that streak.

Firstly, they have lost just one of their last eight matches and their six-game winless run includes five draws, suggesting they should have enough to force extra-time on Wednesday.

The Old Lady have drawn with AC Milan and Roma in that sequence and their immense experience in finals should see them contain Atalanta at the Stadio Olimpico.

La Dea have lifted this trophy only once and have been runners-up twice in the past five years, suggesting they tend to struggle on the big stage.

Four of the last five meetings between the pair have finished level, including both clashes this season, so backing the sides to be drawing at the full-time whistle could prove a profitable play.

Both teams to score @ 19/20

The idea that Italian football is overly defensive seems to have rightfully receded in recent years, although punters could be forgiven for expecting Coppa Italia finals to be cagey affairs given how much is on the line.

However, the last three editions have seen both sides score - with that streak beginning with Juventus' 2-1 win over Atalanta in 2021 - and this year's showpiece is expected to continue that trend.

Both teams have found the net in six of Atalanta's last nine games, which is unsurprising given Gasperini's reputation as an attack-minded coach while the same bet has landed in four of Juventus' last five.

That latter statistic is more interesting given Allegri's tendency to set up defensively but Juve's defence is far from the resolute rearguard it once was and they could be got at by La Dea's excellent attack, spearheaded by the in-form Gianluca Scamacca who is usually accompanied by Ademola Lookman and Charles De Ketelaere.

Both sides have netted in three of the last five meetings between the pair, with the most recent head-to-head clash seeing the two share four goals in a 2-2 thriller, so backing each team to find the net in this final could be a smart move.

Teun Koopmeiners to score @ 11/4

Dutch midfielder Teun Koopmeiners has enjoyed his best scoring return since joining Atalanta, netting 12 Serie A goals with three games remaining, but it is in the Coppa Italia where he has really flourished.

His three goals in four appearances in this competition have been vital in getting La Dea to the final, with the Dutchman a big price to step up on the big stage.

Koopmeiners scored the opener in Atalanta's semi-final second-leg victory over Fiorentina and netted both in their 2-1 quarter-final win over AC Milan.

The former AZ Alkmaar man is clearly a player for the big occasion, making it even more likely he will get on the scoresheet in Rome.

When added to the context that he netted a brace in Atalanta's 2-2 draw with Juventus the last time the two met, Koopmeiners' price of 11/4 to score looks far too big to ignore in this Coppa Italia showdown.
