Aston Villa look set to make a good start to 2025 with a comfortable home victory over second-bottom Leicester City on Saturday.
Villa have slipped to ninth in the table after losing 3-0 at Newcastle on Boxing Day before they were held 2-2 by Brighton at home on Monday.
However, Unai Emery's men are still only three points off the top five and they should maintain their impressive home form this season when they entertain the Foxes, who have lost their last four matches.
Half Time/Full Time - Aston Villa/Aston Villa - 20/21
Aston Villa are favourites at 3/10 to win this Midlands derby but backing Emery's men in the double result market offers better value.
Villa shouldn't have too many problems securing all three points and it seems likely they will be control at half-time on Saturday.
Emery's side have won three of their last four league games at Villa Park and in all of those matches - against Brentford, Southampton and Manchester City - they had the lead at the break.
The hosts should dominate from early on and they can further increase Leicester's woes with the Foxes, who are 19th, struggling under new boss Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Since the Dutchman took charge, Leicester have won one, drew one and lost four with the initial optimism generated by a win over West Ham and a draw with Brighton quickly disappearing due to four straight defeats against Newcastle, Wolves, Liverpool and Manchester City.
During that four-game losing streak, the Foxes have managed just one goal and in three of them they were behind at the interval.
Over 3.5 goals - 13/10
There looks to be a good chance this game will feature at least four goals with Villa expected to dominate.
Leicester have conceded a joint league-high 42 goals this season and they have been letting in plenty in recent weeks under Van Nistelrooy with the Foxes shipping 15 in his six games in charge.
There have been over 3.5 goals in five of Leicester's last seven games and the hosts will fancy their chances of making their opponents' defensive record look even worse this weekend.
Three of Villa's last five home games have had four goals in and Emery has plenty of attacking threats to unleash against Leicester.
Even without the suspended Morgan Rogers and Jhon Duran, Villa have Ollie Watkins, who has scored eight goals this season, to rely on up front, while John McGinn, Leon Bailey, Youri Tielemans and Ross Barkley are among their other creative players who can make an impact in the final third.
Youri Tielemans - Over 1.5 shots - 11/10
Tielemans comes up against his former club this weekend and the midfielder is likely to maintain his impressive form, helping Emery's side assume control of the match.
The Belgian is still waiting for his first league goal of the season but it's likely to come sooner rather than later. Backing the 27-year-old to net anytime at 9/2 is tempting but it could be wiser to select him to have over 1.5 shots in the game.
Tielemans, who has had 12 shots in total in the league this season, had two shots in Monday's 2-2 draw with Brighton and up against a much weaker defence this weekend he should get more opportunities to try his luck from distance.
