Aston Villa v Ipswich Town: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Aston Villa are in the hunt for a European qualification spot but they still have plenty of work to do make the top four in the Premier League this season.

Ipswich Town are toiling at the opposite end of the Premier League and their chances of survival are lessening each week.

Villa have been inconsistent of late, but they should be too strong for an Ipswich side who have won just three times this term and who have lost their last four league matches.

Aston Villa v Ipswich Town betting tips and predictions

Aston Villa to win & both teams score - 2/1

Aston Villa and Ipswich drew 2-2 at Portman Road earlier in the campaign and another high-scoring, entertaining affair looks likely at Villa Park on Saturday.

Villa start the weekend eighth in the Premier League, while Ipswich are struggling down in 19th. The Villans are chasing a European spot, but the Tractor Boys are fighting for their top-flight lives.

A win over Coventry in the FA Cup last weekend lifted Ipswich spirits but prior to that they had lost four straight league matches, suffering some heavy beatings along the way.

During that recent poor run, they were on the end of a damaging 2-1 loss against bottom side Southampton, while a whopping 18 goals were conceded by the Suffolk side across that quartet of matches and they only managed two goals in reponse.

However, there is a strong possibility that they can get on the scoresheet in defeat at Villa Park.

Both teams have scored in each of Aston Villa's last seven matches on home soil and they haven't kept a clean sheet in any of their last six outings.

Ipswich have hit the net in four of their last five matches on the road, so back them to at least pick up a consolation strike this weekend, in a match which should fall Villa's way.

Morgan Rogers first goalscorer - 11/2

While Aston Villa's performances have become inconsistent, attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers has become a regular key contributor and he looks a good bet to open the scoring on Saturday.

Rogers has scored 11 goals in all competitions this term and has been a major threat to opposition defences as the campaign has progressed.

The former Manchester City starlet was on the scoresheet in the 2-1 FA Cup victory over Tottenham last weekend, and has bagged seven goals in his last 10 outings.

A recent hat-trick against Celtic in the Champions League saw Rogers score twice in the opening five minutes of the match and he will get into the penalty area at every given opportunity.

Ipswich may struggle to hold out for too long on Saturday and Rogers, who scored in the draw at Ipswich earlier this season, looks a high-value option to open the scoring in what should be a lively contest.

Morgan Rogers to be booked - 11/2

While Rogers is a major threat in opposition penalty areas and regularly finds his name on the scoresheet, he has also become popular with the officials this season.

The Villa man has been booked on eight occasions in the Premier League this term and his price for a yellow card this weekend looks on the big side at 11/2.

Rogers has been shown a card in six of his last nine matches and he is joint-fifth in the Premier League booking standings with eight yellow cards in total.

It would be no surprise to see that tally rise this weekend.
