Aston Villa are finding it difficult to juggle their domestic and European commitments and have failed to win any of their last eight matches ahead of a Premier League visit from Brentford on Wednesday.
Bees striker Yoane Wissa has found the net eight times already this season and he could have a big say in proceedings at Villa Park.
Brentford or draw double chance - 19/20
While the congested nature of the middle of the Premier League table means Villa can easily make a push for the top six this season, Unai Emery’s team have dug themselves into a bit of a hole and could be vulnerable at home to the Bees on Wednesday.
Villa finished fourth last season to earn a place in the UEFA Champions League, but they have struggled to manage their tasks at home and abroad and head into their midweek clash with the Bees with just one win in their last eight league matches.
There had been few signs of that collapse at the start of the campaign when it seemed Villa had picked up from where they left off, posting four wins in their first five games and they were far from disgraced in a 2-0 home loss to Arsenal.
However, they were disappointing in their 3-0 defeat at Chelsea, which was the fourth time in their last five games that they have failed to score and, with six of their last 10 home games having finished in draws, they make little appeal.
Meanwhile, Bees boss Thomas Frank will want to see his team start to show their mettle on the road after some impressive goal-filled appearances at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The Londoners collected their first away point of the season the last time they were on their travels at Everton and four of their five road defeats before that were at Liverpool, Tottenham and the two Manchester clubs.
Two wins in their last 14 away league games does not look good, but 10 of their last 14 away defeats have been by a single-goal margin, so they could get something from their trip to the Midlands.
Yoane Wissa to score at any time - 10/3
Brentford have scored as many goals as the teams who sit in the top three spots - Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea - and their DR Congo forward Yoane Wissa has played a central role in them accumulating 26 successful strikes this season.
Wissa has helped himself to eight goals this term and has netted in six of his nine Premier League starts.
He should have good memories of his last trip to Villa Park when he netted in April’s 3-3 draw and the striker, who has netted five goals in his last five outings, can threaten a backline still licking their wounds after their loss at Stamford Bridge.
Over 6.5 Aston Villa corners - 5/6
Only Wolves have conceded more corners in their opening 13 Premier League games of the season than Brentford, who average 7.46 against, and the Bees have allowed their opponents a whopping 10 per game in their away matches.
It is not as if one game has skewed the figures either - they have not conceded fewer than nine in any of their six road outings.
No other team have conceded more than eight per game on their travels, so there looks a strong chance Villa can claim more than six in Wednesday’s match.
