Arsenal Women’s title hopes took a big blow with a recent defeat to Chelsea but they should be able to record a comfortable success against rivals Tottenham in the Women's Super League on Sunday.
The visitors have already lost six of their 13 league games and their record against these opponents leaves more than a bit to be desired. Spurs could find the gap between these two teams too substantial to bridge.
Arsenal Women win to nil - 4/5
Arsenal had a poor start to the season, losing to Hacken, Bayern Munich and Chelsea before the middle of October, which saw Jonas Eidevall depart as manager to ultimately be replaced by Renee Slegers.
The Gunners have improved recently, winning 13 of their last 15 games in all competitions, but they have suffered disappointing defeats against Chelsea in the WSL and Manchester City in the League Cup.
However, the hosts have been strong in recent games in their own back yard, winning three of their last four home matches by a combined 15-2 scoreline.
Chelsea have opened up a 10-point gap over the Gunners at the time of writing and if they are to close that then the home team need to be almost perfect from here until the end of the season, given the dominance of the Blues.
They do have a rock-solid record against Spurs however, winning five of the last six league meetings between these two by an aggregate total of 16-2.
Tottenham have also hardly been in the best form recently, losing three of their last four outings. Their last two games have been defeats without scoring to Everton and Manchester United.
The visitors are also the lowest scorers in the top six, having netted just 19 times in 13 matches.
Arsenal have won four of the last six meetings between these two without conceding and they should be able to repeat that trick in this game. Side with Arsenal to win to nil to keep their faint title hopes alive.
Alessia Russo to score at anytime - 11/10
Arsenal have an embarrassment of riches in attacking areas, with the likes of Alessia Russo, Stina Blackstenius and Beth Mead.
They have recently added to their ranks with the loan signing of Chloe Kelly, but Russo has been the most consistent source of goals for the Gunners in the WSL this season.
The 26-year-old has seven goals in 12 league starts this term and is also one of Arsenal’s penalty takers so looks to have a solid chance of getting on the scoresheet against their great rivals, Tottenham.
Clare Hunt to be shown a card - 9/4
Clare Hunt was a summer arrival for Tottenham with the defender signing from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Australian international has started 12 of the visitors’ 13 WSL games this season - only Ashleigh Neville and Molly Bartrip have started more - and she looks set to line up in central defence for this derby clash.
Hunt has picked up four cautions already this season and against Arsenal’s dynamic and fluid forward line, she could be set for another.
