Arsenal v Newcastle: Tips, Predictions and Odds

Newcastle recorded a controversial 1-0 win over Arsenal in November but the Gunners can get revenge when the pair meet on Saturday evening.

Mikel Arteta's men were disappointing in meekly going down 1-0 away in Porto in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie, but their form is far more convincing at home.

They have beaten both Manchester clubs and Liverpool at the Emirates this season and face a Newcastle team that continues to battle injuries and traditionally struggles in N7.

The Magpies have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks and retain hopes of a repeat European finish. However, the Gunners will be smarting from their dismal midweek showing at the Dragao and could hit back with an entertaining victory.

Arsenal v Newcastle betting tips and predictions

Arsenal to win and both teams to score @ 13/8

Arsenal's home form has been excellent this season. Although they lost to Liverpool in the FA Cup, they have won nine of their 12 Emirates outings in the Premier League. They also recorded a trio of victories without conceding in the Champions League group stages.

Newcastle have struggled on the road, winning just three times away from St James' Park, although their recent record is in stark contrast to their overall numbers, winning their last four in all competitions away from Tyneside.

The Magpies have struggled at the Emirates, failing to win since 2010 and not scoring at the ground since Ayoze Perez netted in a 4-1 defeat in December 2014.

However, having scored in their last nine competitive fixtures, they could break their duck.

Intriguingly, a 'No' in Both Teams to Score' has occurred in the last 11 meetings but recent form hints that this could be a more entertaining affair, while there could also be some residual frustration following the controversy hanging over from their previous meeting, with Arsenal still frustrated by the build-up to Anthony Gordon's winner.

The Gunners' home form is too good to ignore, though, and they could continue their title push with an entertaining victory.

Bukayo Saka anytime goalscorer @ 13/8

Arsenal wingers Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli came in for criticism following the defeat in Porto, with neither contributing much as their side failed to record a shot on target.

Martinelli's form has come under particular scrutiny but he has scored three times in his team's last two home games.

That is still someway short of Saka's recent record, though, with the 22-year-old netting six times in four league outings.

Saka has also scored in Arsenal's last two home wins over Newcastle and, with him also on penalty duty, is a player to watch.

Dan Burn to be booked @ 10/3

Dan Burn has been one of the heroes of Newcastle's rise but he has lost form in recent months and opponents now appear to be targeting him.

By contrast, his likely direct opponent, Saka, has increasingly become Arsenal's go-to man, with his colleagues' first instinct when in possession of the ball increasingly being to pass to the England winger.

He will fancy himself against Burn, who is averaging just under a foul a game in the Premier League.

Saka's skill could force the Toon defender into further evasive action and the former Fulham and Brighton man could make his way into the referee's notebook for the fourth time this season.
