Arsenal are expected to be without full-back quartet Kieran Tierney, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jurrien Timber, and new signing Riccardo Calafiori from the start, although the latter could make his debut from the bench.
Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka could start for the first time this summer, while it will be interesting to see if Mikel Arteta continues playing Kai Havertz in midfield and Gabriel Jesus up front.
Alexandre Lacazette, Rayan Cherki, and Johann Lepenant are all unavailable for Lyon after winning the silver medal in the Olympics this week, but Ainsley Maitland-Niles could face his former club and Georges Mikautadze will lead the line.
