Arsenal v Luton: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Arsenal will aim to maintain their Premier League title charge on Wednesday when they host relegation-threatened Luton at the Emirates Stadium.

The two teams sit at opposite ends of the Premier League table, and Wednesday's game is a must-win for both sides. Arsenal need another victory to put the pressure on their title rivals, while Luton have recently slipped back into the relegation zone.

Arsenal v Luton betting tips and predictions

Arsenal to win to nil - 5/6

Mikel Arteta's troops once again showed their defensive prowess on the big stage as they kept a clean sheet against reigning champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday to maintain their title charge.

While a draw was not ideal for the Gunners, they are only two points behind league leaders Liverpool. However, they will need Jurgen Klopp's side to slip up if they are to lift the trophy.

The goals have been spread around Arsenal's team this season, but it is their defensive dominance that has helped them maintain their position.

Arteta's side have only conceded 24 goals in 29 matches, the fewest in the league, while they have kept the most clean sheets with 12.

Luton have scored 43 times this season and they have found the net in 14 consecutive matches in all competitions, while they also netted three in a 4-3 defeat to Arsenal in December.

However, an away trip to the Emirates is a different proposition. Arsenal have stopped the likes of City, Porto and West Ham from scoring against them in recent weeks, and having home advantage should also ease matters in a game they have to win.

The Gunners have kept two clean sheets against City this season in the league, while they also stopped PSV, Sevilla, and Lens from scoring against them in the group stage of the Champions League at the Emirates.

Luton have surprised many with their attacking exploits, but they may not see enough of the ball to trouble this rigid Gunners backline.

Arsenal to win both halves - 5/6

Luton did give Arsenal's rivals Tottenham a scare on Saturday as they took the lead in the capital, but Rob Edwards' side were soon on the back foot and under pressure.

Spurs' inability to convert their chances ensured that the 2-1 scoreline flattered the Hatters, but Wednesday's game at the Emirates should be more straightforward for the hosts.

Arsenal are unbeaten in nine in the league, while they have won nine of their last 10 at home in the top flight. The Gunners have only lost twice at the Emirates all season and they have often set the tempo and suffocated teams before taking all three points.

Wednesday should be no different, especially against Luton's injury-plagued defence. Edwards' side have only kept two clean sheets in the Premier League all season, and they have conceded 24 goals in their last nine league games.

Away from home, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in all competitions and have shipped 15 goals in their last five road assignments, and Arsenal should have no trouble scoring in both halves.

Arsenal shots - Over 20.5 - 5/6

With a home fixture on the cards, Arsenal's fans should be in for another treat in midweek. They have been able to enjoy themselves for most of the season, and it has often been attack versus defence at the Emirates.

The Gunners should dominate the shot count in this match, just like they did against the Hatters in December. Arteta's side registered 23 shots on goal that day and, at home, they have put up some big numbers.

In their last five matches in the league at home, they have registered a combined 101 shots and they should have no problem adding to that tally against a Luton side down to the bare bones at the back.

Luton should be exposed from the outset, and that should allow Arsenal to tee off on Thomas Kaminski's goal.
