Arsenal v Crystal Palace: Prediction, Tips and Odds

A place in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup is at stake at the Emirates on Wednesday evening, when Arsenal take on Crystal Palace.

The Gunners are fighting for silverware on multiple fronts this season and they are aiming to reach the last-four stage of the EFL Cup for the first time since the 2021/22 campaign.

Palace are enjoying their best run in the competition since getting to the semi-finals in 2011/12 and they head to the Emirates having hit some much-needed form in the Premier League.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace betting tips and predictions

Both teams to score - 1/1

Arsenal's Premier League title hopes have stalled of late with draws against Fulham and Everton leaving them six points behind table-toppers Liverpool, who also have a game in hand.

The Gunners are, however, on an eight-game unbeaten run in all competitions and find themselves third in the UEFA Champions League table, a position currently good enough for one of the eight automatic last-16 spots.

Mikel Arteta's side are unbeaten in 12 home games in all competitions this term, winning nine and drawing three, and have scored an impressive 28 goals at the Emirates so far.

Arsenal will be hard to stop at the Emirates, but that doesn't mean Palace won't present a stern challenge and the visitors arrive in solid form.

The Eagles recorded a 3-1 victory at Brighton on Sunday, extending their unbeaten run in all competitions to five games and helping them move four points clear of the relegation zone.

It has been a welcome run of results for Oliver Glasner's side, who were getting sucked closer to the bottom three, and they will give it everything they have in north London.

Palace have scored in nine of their 10 away fixtures - a 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest the only time they have failed to hit the back of the net - while they have netted two or more times in four of their last five road assignments.

Arsenal have been strong at the back this season and have kept four successive clean sheets at home, but Palace are full of confidence and look capable of getting on the scoresheet.

Raheem Sterling to score or assist - 21/20

These two teams will face off in the Premier League at Selhurst Park on Saturday, just three days after this EFL Cup clash, and there could be tweaks to both starting XIs for Wednesday's contest.

One player that could be given a rare starting opportunity is Raheem Sterling, who has made just 10 appearances in all competitions this season of which four have been starts.

Half of those starts have come in the EFL Cup and the 30-year-old Englishman, who was an unused substitute in Saturday's 0-0 draw against Everton, should be brought back into the fold.

Sterling's one goal this season came in the 5-1 cup thrashing of Bolton, while he also provided an assist in that victory and in the 3-0 league triumph over Nottingham Forest in November.

The experienced forward looks capable of adding to either his goal or assist tally at the expense of Palace.

Eddie Nketiah to have over 0.5 shots on target - 11/8

English forward Eddie Nketiah returns to the Emirates for the first time since leaving for Palace in the summer and he will be eager to put in a good display against his former employers.

The 25-year-old has been in-and-out of the starting XI this season but he could be handed an opportunity to impress for this EFL Cup tie.

Nketiah came off the bench in the 3-1 win at Brighton last time out and managed to register three shots from his half-hour cameo.

It would be no surprise to see the former Arsenal starlet get at least one shot on target as he looks to show Arteta he was wrong to let him go in the summer transfer window.
