Ange Postecoglou dismissing outside noise ahead of crucial Eintracht Frankfurt clash

Patience is seemingly wearing thin amongst Tottenham Hotspur fans, and their second leg contest against Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League could be key in determining the future of manager Ange Postecoglou.

UEFA Europa League

Despite there being an overarching feeling amongst football fans that Postecoglou’s role as Tottenham manager is at risk, the Australian manager insists he’s not listening to outside noise ahead of a vital quarter-final tie against the Bundesliga's third placed team, Eintracht Frankfurt.

Joining the club in 2023, Postecoglou inspired optimism after a strong start which saw them drop just four points from their first 10 Premier League games.

Injuries would come thick and fast for Spurs however, and Postecoglou’s side would record a fifth place finish, just two points off London rivals Chelsea in fourth.

A relatively strong first season for the former Celtic boss which signalled signs of promise, though Tottenham have been unable to build any kind of momentum in the 2024/25 term, currently placed 15th and closing in on a record breaking season.

Spurs have never lost more than 19 times in a 38-game season. With 17 losses up to now and six games left to play, there is every chance Postecoglou’s team stamp their names in the history book for all the wrong reasons.

That said, the Spurs manager has emphasised that he is not listening to outside noise.

In a press conference prior to Thursday’s trip to Germany, Postecoglou said: “I don't define my career or me as a person by what people think of me. I never have and never will.

“If you don't think I'm a good coach today then you are not going to think I'm a good coach tomorrow. Even if we win, one game is not going to make a difference to that.

“If people think us winning tomorrow then all of a sudden I'm a better manager than what I am today, or losing tomorrow somehow makes me a worse manager, that is their burden, not mine."
