Aberdeen Scottish Premiership Odds: Dons 10/3 to finish above Rangers in 2024/25

Aberdeen are priced at 10/3 to finish above Rangers in the Scottish Premiership table in 2024/25 with the Dons having made an outstanding start to the season under new manager Jimmy Thelin.

Following a dismal 2023/24 season in which Aberdeen fell to a bottom half finish in the Scottish Premiership under the stewardship of three different managers - Barry Robson, Neil Warnock and Peter Leven - the club opted to appoint Swede Thelin to the top job ahead of the new campaign.

Thelin arrived at Pittodrie with an esteemed reputation in Swedish football, driving Elfsborg to two second-placed finishes in the Allsvenskan.

The 46-year-old Swede could not have dreamed of a better start as Aberdeen manager, leading the Dons through the Scottish League Cup group stages with four wins from four.

Things have only got better for Thelin's Dons in the league, with Aberdeen winning their first five fixtures to lie joint-top of the table with Celtic and five points ahead of third-placed Rangers.

Aberdeen are also through to the League Cup quarter-finals following a 1-0 over Queen's Park in the second round, meaning Thelin has won his first 10 matches in charge in all competitions.

The charismatic Swede has been able to reinstall a feel-good factor at Pittodrie, perhaps best symbolised by the sensational renaissance of Senegalese forward Pape Habib Gueye.

Signed from Belgian side KV Kortrijk under Barry Robson's administration last summer, Gueye made just six Scottish Premiership appearances in 2023/24, spending the second half of the season on loan at Norwegian side Kristiansund BK.

The former Senegal youth international has looked a player reborn for Aberdeen under Thelin's guidance at the start of the 2024/25 campaign, netting five Scottish Premiership goals in as many games to fly to the top of the division's goalscorer standings.

Should Gueye's form in front of goal continue, he could put himself in the reckoning to finish as the Scottish Premiership top goalscorer in 2024/25, a status held by Hearts' Lawrence Shankland last term with 24 to his name.
