Aberdeen v Kilmarnock: Tips, Predictions and Odds

From smiles and jokes upon his arrival in early February, it’s a very different looking Neil Warnock who takes his Aberdeen side into their Scottish Cup clash with Kilmarnock on Saturday.

With a win over League Two outfit Bonnyrigg Rose the only victory since the Yorkshireman’s arrival north of the border, frustrations are growing at Pittodrie.

In contrast, Kilmarnock will head to the east coast in good spirits and will feel capable of landing what would be a fourth consecutive win over the Dons this weekend.

Aberdeen v Kilmarnock betting tips and predictions

Kilmarnock to win - 15/8

As mentioned, Kilmarnock have had the sign over Aberdeen in their meetings this season.

These sides have already met on three occasions in the Premiership and it’s Killie fans who have been the ones smiling after all three full-time whistles.

A 2-0 win at Rugby Park in October was followed by a 1-0 win at Pittodrie in their last visit back in early December.

It was just a couple of weeks ago that these sides last met, with Kilmarnock pulling out another 2-0 victory in East Ayrshire with Warnock in the dugout.

Aberdeen go into this game on the back of three consecutive defeats, scoring just one goal in that time and conceding six.

Warnock, who was all smiles in his opening press conference, has made a name for himself over the years of making his teams tough to beat but wins against the Dons have become all too frequent since his arrival.

Without a win in their last 10 Premiership games, the Reds have sunk down to 10th place in the standings and questions are being asked if Warnock will even last to the end of the season in his interim role.

Considering their recent record in this fixture, Kilmarnock look to be good value to add to Warnock’s woes and claim the win in 90 minutes to progress in this Scottish Cup clash.

Matthew Kennedy to score anytime - 10/3

Former Aberdeen midfielder Matthew Kennedy got on the scoresheet against his old employers when Kilmarnock earned that 2-0 victory at Rugby Park last month.

Kennedy has enjoyed a positive season at the start of his second spell at the club and even bagged a winner to inflict Celtic’s first league defeat of the 2023-24 season back in December.

The Northern Ireland international has the ability to get on the end of chances in the box and he’s well priced in the Anytime Goalscorer market to haunt his former club once again on Saturday.

Graeme Shinnie to be booked - 11/4

Aberdeen skipper Graeme Shinnie has earned praise from Warnock in recent weeks, describing the combative captain as one of few leaders in the squad.

Of course Shinnie will not be happy with the recent run of form for the Dons and he will look to make a statement on Saturday.

That might well end up with the skipper making a strong challenge to get the crowd going at Pittodrie and end up with the 32-year-old in the referee’s book.

No player has picked up more yellow cards for Aberdeen in the Premiership this season than Shinnie’s eight and two of those came in games against Killie.

At 11/4, Shinnie to be booked against Kilmarnock this weekend should get plenty of backers.
