Aaron Ramsdale 4/1 to join Chelsea in January transfer window

Arsenal's bonafide number one goalkeeper as the Gunners ran Manchester City close in the Premier League title race last term, Aaron Ramsdale has had to settle for a place on the bench for the majority of this campaign so far following the arrival of David Raya from Brentford.

Acting as an understudy to Raya is not ideal for Ramsdale in his quest to usurp Jordan Pickford as England's number one ahead of the Euros next summer, with speculation the 25-year-old may seek a transfer move in January in order to obtain more regular first team football.

Should the ex-Sheffield United and Bournemouth shot-stopper elect to depart the Emirates, Newcastle United could emerge as a possible destination, with the Magpies having been rocked by a shoulder injury suffered by their number one Nick Pope.

Perhaps only on an initial loan basis, a switch to St James' Park could be an ideal opportunity for Ramsdale, but it is unclear whether or not Arsenal will be willing to let the Englishman leave the club mid-season.

Chelsea have also been mooted as a potential next club for Ramsdale after Mauricio Pochettino's side lost goalkeeper Robert Sanchez to injury over the festive period, although summer recruit Djordje Petrovic has stepped up impressively in his absence.
