Esports: Fnatic down to two after benching Alex and Poizon

Only Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson and William "mezii" Merriman remain on Fnatic's active roster, with the organization to build a new team around the pair.

Fnatic have announced that they have moved Alex "ALEX" McMeekin and Valentin "poison" Vasilev to inactive status and that Peppe "Peppzor" Boark has returned to the fnatic Rising academy team.

Just two remain

The move leaves the active lineup with just two players, KRIMZ and mezii, who have been the highest performers for the team in 2022 with a 1.03 and 1.07 rating respectively.

Now fnatic is heading for another overhaul after having made several changes already over the past three months.

Owen "smooya" Butterfield was the first to leave the roster in late February and the team went on to trial Iulian "regali" Harjau and poison for his replacement.

Just before qualifiers for the PGL Major began, fnatic were dealt another heavy blow when the team's star player, Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin was bought out by NIP. That forced Peppzor in from the academy team at the last minute.

Despite having little time with the new players, fnatic managed to qualify for the Regional Major Ranking event and surprised many with a playoffs finish at ESL Pro League Season 15.

Sudden downturn

Since then, however, the results have quickly taken a turn for the worse. They were eliminated from the RMR itself in 12th-14th place and missed out on a spot at the Major before also failing to qualify for IEM Dallas.

It remains unclear where the organization will turn for replacements, but as usual the Major is certain to shake things up and put some players on the market.

Fnatic is in a race against time to put together a new team, as they have been invited to compete in the Pinnacle Cup Championship in Sweden in early June.

Fnatic's current roster:

Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson

William "mezii" Merriman

Alex "ALEX" McMeekin (inactive)

Valentin "poison" Vasilev (inactive)
