Five players who could replace Bryan Mbeumo at Brentford

Brentford are in the midst of a major rebuild following the departure of head coach Thomas Frank and the talismanic Bryan Mbeumo is another who appears to be heading for the exit door at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Cameroon international, who netted 20 goals and registered seven assists in the Premier League last season, is in hot demand with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur eager to acquire his signature.

With Mbeumo seemingly set to leave Brentford, we've looked at the players that the Bees might turn to in a bid to fill the forward's void.

Nicolas Kuhn

Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn played a pivotal role in the Bhoys achieving the Double last season as they won the League Cup and strolled to the Scottish Premiership title, chalking up 36 goal contributions.

The former Rapid Vienna star even demonstrated his immense skillset on the UEFA Champions League stage with a brace against RB Leipzig and a goal away at Bayern Munich in the knockout stages.

Flaunting a sharp turn of pace and a willingness to attack opposition, Kuhn is highly-effective on transition and boasts the predatory instincts to make a timely run into the penalty area from which his team can fashion a chance.

Contracted to Celtic until 2029, Kuhn is expected to demand a fee in excess of £15m.

Cheikh Sabaly

Brentford are reportedly frontrunners to sign FC Metz winger Cheikh Sabaly, who is understood to be available for £8.5m.

The Senegal international scored 15 goals in Ligue 2 as Metz won promotion back to France's top-flight and Sabaly was recently on the scoresheet at the City Ground as Senegal defeated England 3-1 in a friendly.

Possessing explosive speed, intricate control and great agility, Sabaly drives beyond opponents with ease. However, despite 17 goal contributions last term, the incoming Brentford head coach would need to unearth a consistency to his end product.

Evann Guessand

A product of the OGC Nice academy, Evann Guessand enjoyed a breakthrough year with Les Aiglons by scoring 13 goals and producing 10 assists in all competitions last season.

A versatile forward who is adept at playing on the left and centrally, Guessand's best work was manufactured from the right flank where he was given licence to roam inside and link-up with the striker - mirroring the Mbeumo/Yoane Wissa combinations.

Guessand is exhilarating with the ball at his feet and intelligent without it, showcasing great application when attempting to retrieve possession.

Wolves and West Ham have both been linked with the 23-year-old, who is expected to fetch a fee of £25m.

Tom Fellows

Sought-after West Brom star Tom Fellows is a throwback winger who has been linked with a move to the Premier League for several months and Brentford have dabbled handsomely at recruiting dazzling Football League talents in the past.

Ascending from the academy into the first-team fold at The Hawthorns in 2023/24, Fellows established himself as a Championship star last term by registering the second-most assists in the division with 14.

The 21-year-old, who is currently representing England at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, has more of a tendency to drive towards the byline and deliver crosses instead of cutting inside, which proved extremely effective when West Brom's Josh Maja was fit.

Everton head a lengthy queue for Fellows' services but at a reported cost of just £10m, Fellows would be an excellent snip of business for the Bees.

Johan Bakayoko

Brentford have previous history in pursuing a deal for Johan Bakayoko in August 2023 and although the PSV Eindhoven winger rejected them at the time due to his desire to challenge for the Eredivisie title and play in the UEFA Champions League, the Premier League may be a tempting proposition now.

The Bees agreed a £34m fee for Bakayoko back then, but the 23-year-old is expected to command significantly less with only one year remaining on his PSV contract, which has put a number of Europe's clubs on alert.

Flaunting absorbing skill and flair, Bakayoko was arguably the most productive player in the Eredivisie last season, ranking in the top percentiles for xG (Expected Goals), progressive carries, passes into penalty area and shot-creating actions.
