Our resident boxing expert Rob Tebbutt provides his tips and predictions for Filip Hrgovic v Daniel Dubois, as the heavyweight stars battle it out in an IBF world title final eliminator showdown as part of the Queensberry v Matchroom bill this weekend.
In the heavyweight division this coming Saturday night we will see a fight between Filip Hrgovic and Daniel Dubois that could carry a world title attached to it.
Croatian star Hrgovic has waited patiently for the IBF route to come to fruition, having been mandatory challenger for the title that Oleksandr Usyk currently holds for about two years now.
Dubois has responded very well to his defeat at the hands of Usyk last October, recording a great win over Jarrell 'Big Baby' Miller in Saudi Arabia earlier this year.
Having said that, I do feel as though the English fighter is going to be right up against it this weekend.
Hrgovic hasn't always impressed as a professional but is a very, very accomplished amateur, who, despite some under-par performances, has done everything that has been asked of him since turning pro.
I do feel that Dubois' natural tendency to want to come forward, force the fight and engage will ultimately play into Hrgovic's hands, given the fact that he is capable of picking his shots nicely whilst also possessing that huge fight-ending power in his right hand!
Dubois will try and put it on Hrgovic, because he can be a stationary target at times and we also know that he can be hurt from past fights, but I still expect the Croat to neutralise his opponent and win this fight by stoppage (4/5).
Hrgovic may take his time early on, work behind his jab and take a good look at Dubois, but once we hit those middle rounds, I am anticipating Hrgovic to land hard, heavy and often before eventually scoring a KO/TKO success.
