Hard-hitting Croatian Filip Hrgovic has revealed that plans are in place for him to secure a lucrative showdown against a household known heavyweight later this year, providing he overcomes Dave Allen in May.
The pair are set to lock-horns in a likely high-octane showdown at Doncaster's Eco-Power Stadium next month, with rich rewards on offer for the winner.
Hrgovic first fought on British soil in 2023 when he saw off the spirited Demsey McKean, whilst he has since gone on to dismantle the dangerous Joe Joyce in Manchester.
He did however succumb to defeat at the hands of former IBF world title-holder Daniel Dubois in-between those two victories, but knows he could land himself a second crack at the Londoner, and a potential world title opportunity, if he is to reign supreme next month.
Speaking to Boxing King Media this week, the experienced 33-year-old revealed that part of his new deal with Queensberry stipulates a guaranteed clash with one of the biggest names in the blue-riband division on the proviso he beats Allen.
"I get paid and I move forward for my second fight in a new deal with Queensberry," 'El Animal' said.
"I have in contract a few names that must get delivered - Moses [Itauma], Agit [Kabayel], [Daniel] Dubois, [Fabio] Wardley.
- Filip Hrgovic (Boxing King Media)
"Four, five names that must be delivered. It’s guaranteed.
"We’ll see what happens with Wardley-Dubois, Moses and Agit. But we have an obligation that I must face one of these guys later in the year."
Whilst Hrgovic would understandably likely prefer to face the winner of the upcoming WBO world title affair between Fabio Wardley and Dubois, Itauma's name also carries plenty of pulling-power, especially given the fact that he name-checked Hrgovic as his 'ideal' next opponent at the weekend.
The 21-year-old, who has been heavily touted as a future undisputed ruler, extended his winning record to 14-0 by virtue of a fifth round stoppage of American Jermaine Franklin.
The victory means Itauma has now stopped each of his past 10 opponents inside the scheduled distance and enhanced his chances of securing a first world championship fight before the end of the year, although he may well have to wait in line if he pursues the WBO route, with Hrgovic likely ahead of him in the queue.
