The Draft - NFL: Five stars to follow

The 2022 NFL Draft is now just days away, and fans will soon be flocking to Las Vegas for the 87th edition of the National Football League's annual Draft.

This year's Draft will see 262 players drafted in seven rounds, and just like last year, the Jacksonville Jaguars will make the first selection.

Jacksonville also has the most selections with 12, and this year's Draft looks wide open, with no star quarterback set to be picked first.

In the build-up to this year's Draft, the predictions of who will be drafted first have changed, and we take a look at the five players who could be selected first this Friday.

Aidan Hutchinson - Edge

Hutchinson was the long-time favourite to be named as the No.1 pick, but in recent weeks, he has fallen down the pecking order.

The NFL draft can often be hard to predict, though, and the Jaguars need a new edge rusher in their defence.

While Hutchinson is not as talented as previous first-round picks, he has tremendous speed, power and great hands, and it would be a huge surprise to see the Jaguars miss out on the chance to sign him.

The 21-year-old is 14/5 to be drafted first, and he could follow in the footsteps of Trevor Lawrence by joining the Jaguars in the first round.

Travon Walker - Edge

There are a fair few edge rushers that will likely be drafted in the first ten picks in round one, and Walker is a dark horse to go early.

He remains the overwhelming favourite to be drafted first at 10/23, but punters may get more bang for their buck by backing him to be drafted second at 6/1.

Walker is considered to have the highest upside in the Draft, and his incredible traits mean that the Detroit Lions, who will make the second selection, could take a gamble.

Ikem Ekwonu - OT/G

The NC State star is the best offensive tackle in the Draft, according to some NFL experts, and he will immediately improve any roster.

The Houston Texans will pick third, and they are desperate for reinforcements in several positions.

Ekwonu will bolster their weak offensive line in a heartbeat, and if the Texans do pass on the former All-American, then he could also be a target for the New York Jets.

Kayvon Thibodeaux - Edge

Should the Jets decide against Ekwonu, then there are several players they could be chasing.

Their fanbase would love a new edge rusher, and Thibodeaux fits the bill, while he is 11/4 to be picked fourth.

Critics suggest he is not dedicated to his craft, but that could also be smoke and mirrors from several General Managers that are hoping he falls into their lap.

The Jets have visited the former Oregon star on several occasions, and it would be a huge shock not to see him selected inside the first five picks.

Evan Neal - OT

This year, the New York Giants will make the fifth selection, and they are one of several teams that need several star recruits. The Giants will make two picks inside the top ten, and they will struggle to pass on Neal if he remains available.

The former Alabama college ace is flexible despite weighing 340lbs, and he is also versatile and can play at right tackle or guard.

Neal is 4/1 to be picked fifth, and like Ekwonu, he could make a massive difference to any offensive line this summer. You can follow the NFL action via our Sports Live Streaming platform.
