As early season stories go, the perceived unfortunate defeat for Field Of Gold in the 2,000 Guineas was as big as it gets.

The half-a-length loss to Ruling Court cost regular-rider Kieran Shoemark his retained position with John & Thady Gosden, despite his bet365 Craven success aboard the three-year-old just three weeks prior.

But Field Of Gold returned to winning ways next time out - this time under Colin Keane - as he landed the Irish 2,000 Guineas in superb style.

That performance was impressive enough for the Juddmonte-owned runner to be put in as favourite to defeat Ruling Court in their rematch.
