bet365's boxing expert Rob Tebbutt dissects Saturday night's hugely-anticipated heavyweight rematch between Fabio Wardley and Frazer Clarke and tells us why he feels the betting value lies in a split-decision.
Fabio Wardley and Frazer Clarke meet in Riyadh in a highly-anticipated heavyweight rematch.
Following their March slugfest that saw Wardley retain his British and Commonwealth titles by split draw, both men enter into the return bout full of confidence.
The first bout was excellent from first bell to last, with several shifts in momentum throughout. Defending champion Wardley scored a knockdown, while challenger Clarke controlled the majority of the action behind a sharp left jab.
On a night of well-matched fights, this is arguably the toughest to call out of the lot. Both men have routes to victory; Wardley will feel he came close to finishing the job last time, while Clarke will feel his sluggishness late on cost him.
I do expect the fight to once again produce thrills and spills, so a price of 10/3 for 'Both Fighters To Be Knocked Down' looks attractive.
Wardley stayed on his feet in the first bout, but he took a lot of damage, so a trip to the canvas for both wouldn’t be a surprise.
However, with this being such a closely-contested, straight-down-the-middle contest, I will be taking the plus money option of Frazer Clarke to win the fight.
I felt that he nicked the first fight and believe he’ll be better served down the stretch after letting the fight slip in the latter stages first time around.
