The inaugural edition of the Qatar Grand Prix took place in 2021, in place of the cancelled Australian Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton tasted success on that day, with Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso completing the podium line-up.

Following a year absence due to Qatar hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the Qatar Grand Prix returned in 2023, in which Red Bull's Max Verstappen claimed victory.

He followed up his 2023 triumph with a second consecutive Qatar Grand Prix win in 2024.
