Formula 1: Japanese Grand Prix previous winners

Discover the full list of previous winners of Formula 1's Japanese Grand Prix since the inaugural race in 1976.

Formula 1

The Japanese Grand Prix has been a staple in the Formula One calendar and has alternated between two venues over the decades since its inception.

Initially taking place at the Suzuka Circuit in Suzuka, the race moved to the Fuji Speedway track in Oyama for several years before reverting back to Suzuka, with the location remaining the same since 2008.

For more than two decades the Japanese Grand Prix was the sole Asian representative in the F1 schedule, and due to its late position in the calendar, often played a deciding role in Drivers' and Constructors' Championships over the years.

The great Michael Schumacher still holds the record for most wins at the Japanese Grand Prix with seven wins, including three consecutive first placed finishes between 2000 and 2002.
