Ferrari racing drivers

Current drivers

Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton made the switch from Mercedes to Ferrari for the 2025 season and beyond, where he partners the supremely talented Monegasque Charles Leclerc, who has been with the team since 2019.

Drivers to have won the World Championship at Ferrari

Five of Ferrari's 15 Drivers' Championships belong to the great Michael Schumacher, who was crowned champion five years running between 2000 and 2004.

Schumacher's 2000 triumph ended Ferrari's 21-year barren spell since their last Drivers' title, which was won by Jody Scheckter in 1979.

Before that, the likes of Alberto Ascari, Juan Manuel Fangio and Mike Hawthorn triumphed for Ferrari in the 50s, while Phil Hill and John Surtees guided the Prancing Horse to top honours in the 60s.

The 70s saw Scheckter follow in the footsteps of the phenomenal Niki Lauda, who was victorious in 1975 before his miraculous comeback success of 1977.

Kimi Raikkonen's 2007 title remains the last time a Ferrari driver was crowned drivers' champion.

Other notable Ferrari drivers

Ferrari's allure has attracted an abundance of world champions including Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso, Nigel Mansell and Alain Prost.

As the most decorated F1 team, many have taken the chequered flag in the famous red with Carlos Sainz, Felipe Massa, Rubens Barrichello, Eddie Irvine and Jacky Ickx all winning a race for Ferrari.

Who owns Ferrari?

Ferrari’s ownership is split three ways: public (67.09%), Exor N.V. (22.91%) and Piero Ferrari (10%).
