Max Verstappen’s dominance at the Dutch Grand Prix could well be brought to an end on Sunday, with Lando Norris a contender to land his maiden chequered flag at Circuit Zandvoort.
Following a dramatic Belgian Grand Prix and the summer break, F1 action returns this week with the Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort on Sunday.
This race has been dominated by home favourite Max Verstappen in recent years, with the Dutch star winning the last three meetings in North Holland.
However, the Red Bull ace has failed to win any of the last four races in this 2024 F1 campaign and the 26-year-old has seen his lead at the top of the Drivers’ Championship cut down to 78 points.
While Verstappen is still on course to be crowned world champion once again, closest rival Lando Norris won’t go down without a fight.
The Englishman will be eager to keep the pressure on the Drivers’ Championship frontrunner and has the pace to triumph at Circuit Zandvoort this weekend.
Lando Norris to win - 15/8
Norris has come on leaps and bounds this season and for many will be a surprise name in second place in the Drivers’ Championship standings at present.
The Bristolian endured a somewhat disappointing Belgian Grand Prix last time out by his new high standards with a fifth-place finish.
However, McLaren have had the summer break to put right what went wrong at Spa and Norris looks capable of getting back on track this week at Circuit Zandvoort.
With eight podium finishes, including his maiden F1 win in Miami, Norris has been showing a great level of consistency this season.
If Norris can perform during qualifying to finish at the front of the grid, he will take some stopping to be denied the checkered flag this weekend.
Of course, strong qualifying would see his price drop for the outright win, making the 15/8 currently on offer worth considering.
Lewis Hamilton top 3 finish - 11/10
After his Mercedes team-mate George Russell was disqualified for this car being underweight at the Belgium Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton claimed his second win in the last three races.
Taking the chequered flag at the British Grand Prix, the Silver Arrows ace followed up that performance at Silverstone with a third-place finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Back to winning ways in Belgium, Hamilton has made great progress after struggling in his Mercedes at the start of the season.
Failing to get on the podium in any of the first nine races of the 2024 campaign, the seven-time world champion has managed to finish in the top three in four of the last five races.
Ferrari fans will be pleased to see Hamilton’s upturn in fortunes ahead of his move to the Scuderia next season and the Englishman is good value to land another podium finish this weekend at Circuit Zandvoort.
Pierre Gasly points finish - 4/1
It was a frustrating spell for Pierre Gasly before the summer break but the Frenchman will be raring to go for the return to action at the Dutch Grand Prix.
Gasly has had some reliability issues which meant he failed to earn any points at the last three races.
However, before that, he has finished in the points in the four previous meetings in Monaco, Canada, Spain and Austria.
Gasly also seems to have a liking for Circuit Zandvoort and managed to finish in third place for Alpine in this race last season, in what was his only podium finish of the 2023 campaign.
If Alpine have managed to address his recent reliability issues, Gasly is an attractive price at 4/1 to return to the points on Sunday.
