Initially alternating between Mosport Park and Mont-Tremblant, the Canadian Grand Prix moved to the Circuit Île Notre Dame in 1978 and the event has been held there ever since, with the venue now known as Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

Jack Brabham was the winner of the inaugural Canadian Grand Prix in 1967 and of the eight races staged at Mosport Park, three-time world champion Jackie Stewart was the most successful at the venue, winning twice in 1971 and 1972.

Since relocating to Montreal, it should be of little surprise to see the sport's two most decorated drivers head the standings for most Canadian Grand Prix victories.

Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton share seven wins apiece in Canada, which is four more than the next best duo of Nelson Piquet and Max Verstappen.

Jacky Ickx, Alan Jones, Ayrton Senna and Sebastian Vettel are also repeat winners of the Canadian Grand Prix, while Ferrari are the most successful constructor in the race with 14 victories, one more than their closest challenger McLaren.
