Mirroring the market for the 2025 Drivers' Championship, Lando Norris is the favourite to come out on top in Sunday's curtain-raiser.
After Max Verstappen swatted his late surge for the title aside last year, Norris will be looking to go one better in the forthcoming season and with McLaren emerging from pre-season testing in excellent shape, the Briton appears primed to make a fast start on this occasion.
Norris' third-place finish at Albert Park last year was his best result at the Melbourne venue, having finished sixth and fifth in the preceding years.
Carlos Sainz capitalised on a brake failure for Max Verstappen to take the chequered flag in last year's race and while the Dutchman will be targeting a return to the top step of the podium in Australia, question marks remain concerning the competitiveness of Red Bull's RB21 challenger.
No Australian driver has finished on the podium at Albert Park since the inaugural race in 1996, a record that Oscar Piastri will be looking to put right as he gears up for his third season.
All eyes will also be on Ferrari this weekend as Lewis Hamilton makes his highly-anticipated debut for the famed Italian constructor.
The seven-time world champion endured an underwhelming end to his Mercedes career but he will be looking to make a strong start alongside Charles Leclerc, who will be hopeful his SF-25 can catapult him into title contention.
Piastri is not the only Aussie to feature this weekend with Jack Doohan making his debut for Alpine. The son of motorcycle legend Mick, Doohan is 4/1 to secure a points finish on Sunday.
