Kieran McKenna orchestrated an immediate return to the Premier League last season by guiding the Suffolk outfit to automatic promotion, but Ipswich's preparations for another crack amongst the big boys was disrupted by McKenna's shock departure in early June.
Ipswich subsequently turned to former Bournemouth and Wolves head coach Gary O'Neil to take over at Portman Road, and the 43-year-old has experience of hauling clubs clear of the relegation zone in the Premier League.
