Euro 2024

Injury doubts

Kylian Mbappe (France)

Kylian Mbappe suffered a broken nose in the 1-0 win over Austria on Monday night.

The Real Madrid forward appeared to headbutt the shoulder of Austrian defender Kevin Danso at a set-piece and there was concern over Mbappe's availability ahead of their pivotal Group D clash with the Netherlands.

But the superstar forward returned to training on Thursday and is expected to sport a protective face mask for the remainder of the tournament.

William Saliba (France)

William Saliba has added to France's injury woes after the Arsenal defender trained on his own due to experiencing muscular pain.

The 23-year-old played the full 90 minutes of France's 1-0 win over Austria, where he partnered Dayot Upamecano at the heart of Didier Deschamps' defence.

Luke Shaw (England)

England have been left sweating over the fitness of left-back Luke Shaw, who has not played any football since mid-February due to a muscle injury.

Manchester United defender Shaw was an unused substitute in England's opening game against Serbia and was not even present in the squad against Denmark, it is doubtful the 28-year-old will feature until the knockout stages, should England get there.

John Stones (England)

Manchester City defender Stones started against both Serbia and Denmark completing 90 minutes in each match alongside Marc Guehi at the heart of England's defence.

There were concerns over his fitness after an illness forced him out of training and into isolation in his hotel room, however the 30-year-old Yorkshireman came through the match unscathed and is likely to be a consistent starter all tournament,

Aurelien Tchouameni (France)

France midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni was an unused substitute in the opening win over Austria as the 24-year-old continues to recover from a foot injury which saw him miss Real Madrid's Champions League final victory over Borussia Dortmund.

Nicolo Barella (Italy)

Inter playmaker Nico Barella defied expectation to complete 92 minutes against Albania for Italy's opening fixture, despite missing both of the Azzurri's warmup matches through injury.

The midfielder made a goal scoring return for his national side when he lashed the ball home from 18 yards to give Italy the lead on Saturday evening.

He also completed another full 90 against Spain in Italy's second group game.

Injured

Kieran Tierney (Scotland)

Scottish defender Kieran Tierney has suffered a hamstring injury which led to him being stretched off the pitch during the Scotland v Switzerland game.

Tierney will now more than likely miss Scotland's final group match against Hungary - a game Steve Clarke's side must win to keep their hopes of a place in the last 16 alive.

Ruled out

Frenkie de Jong (Netherlands)

Netherlands playmaker Frenkie de Jong has lost his battle to recover from an ankle injury in time to participate in Euro 2024, with the Barcelona star having now departed the squad.

Other ruled out players:

  • Harry Maguire (England) - Calf
  • Lyndon Dykes (Scotland) - Leg injury
  • Ben Doak (Scotland) - Knee
  • Giorgio Scalvini (Italy) - Knee
  • Francesco Acerbi (Italy) - Hernia
  • Domenico Berardi (Italy) - Knee
  • Serge Gnabry (Germany) - Knee
  • Teun Koopmeiners (Netherlands) - Muscle injury
  • David Alaba (Austria) - ACL
  • Gavi (Spain) - Knee
