We're all set for a fascinating 200m showdown at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham on Friday night.
Switzerland's Timothé Mumenthaler is the reigning champion after claiming gold in Rome two years ago, but Great Britain's Zharnel Hughes will want to etch his name into the history books as only the second man to win the 200m title twice.
Hughes secured his first European Championship gold in 2022, but was forced to miss out on defending his continental crown in Rome after sustaining a hamstring injury which subsequently impacted his Olympics, with the Anguilla-born sprinter withdrawing from the 200m in Paris.
The 31-year-old has been on a redemption mission ever since and Hughes is the odds-on favourite to become only the second man after Pietro Mennea (Italy) in 1974 and 1978 to achieve two European 200m titles.
To do that he must conquer Mumenthaler, who he pipped in the semi-finals as the pair crossed the line staring each other down.
Although Hughes claimed victory with a 20.05s, he wasn't the fastest competitor across the semi-finals as Germany's Owen Ansah cruised to a 20.04s victory.
Ansah will be looking to add to the bronze medal he won in the 100m on Tuesday night, while Italy's Eseosa Delulu showcased his credentials as the Olympic 4x100m relay gold medallist won the opening semi-final in 20.08s.
