The men's 100m will take centre stage on day two of the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham.
Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs heads the betting to win a third European Championships gold after claiming top spot at Munich 2022 and Rome 2024.
Victory would place Jacobs amongst esteemed company with only Valerii Borzov and Linford Christie achieving the feat of three consecutive 100m titles, and the Italian arrives in Birmingham enjoying something of a resurgence having produced a wind-assisted 9.67 seconds in Eisenstadt whilst also performing well in the Diamond League.
Eager to halt Jacobs from making history will be Romell Glave, who will be backed by the home crowd as he looks to deliver a British double gold in the 100m after Amy Hunt's success on Monday night.
Glave already knows what it's like to win at the Alexandra Stadium having triumphed at the UK Athletics Championships in June, and the 26-year-old continued his good form by running a personal best 9.97s at the London Diamond League meeting last month.
Germany's Owen Ansah set a new national record and become the first German to run under 10 seconds earlier this year. The 25-year-old has set personal bests across 60m, 100m and 200m in a breakout year for the former European Championship bronze medalist.
Great Britain's duo of Jeremiah Azu and Louie Hinchliffe will also be vying for a medal in Birmingham, with Azu arriving at the European Championships after finishing fifth in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
