How does the UEFA Europa League draw work?

It's the mark of a new era in the UEFA Europa League with the introduction of a league phase.

Whereas previously, 32 teams were split into eight groups, with the four teams playing each other home and away, this season teams will only play an opponent once, with every club having a unique fixture list.

A team will be drawn from pot 1, with two teams drawn from each pot to give them their eight opponents. Teams will continue to be drawn from pot 1 until none are left, at which point the draw will continue through the pots in descending order until all teams have eight opponents.

Teams cannot face an opponent from the same country and can only play a maximum of two teams from one other nation.

The dates and times of all the fixtures will be confirmed at a later date, with the first round of matches to be played on 25/26 September 2024.
