The inaugural 2024 showpiece boasts a prize pool in excess of £50m, and will feature 21 varying games, each with a unique tournament across the near two-month long calendar.

What is the Esports World Cup 2024?

The Esports World Cup is an elite multi-genre esports competition that will take place annually in Saudi Arabia, during July and August, at Riyadh Boulevard City, with the 2024 competition being its inaugural staging.

Replacing the Gamers8 festival, the EWC will offer the largest prize pool in esports and feature the most popular esports titles across all major gaming genres, including Call of Daty: WARZONE, League of Legends and EAFC.

The event also welcomes a new cross-game competition format, awarding huge cash prizes for individual game titles and club performances.

The winning team at the end of the event, on Sunday 25th August 2024, will be crowned World Club Champion.

Esports World Cup 2024 format

The Esports World Cup 2024 will encompass 22 tournaments across its 21 competitive titles.

Each tournament will adhere to its own unique format and rules, contributing to a larger competition known as the Club Championship

What is the Club Championship in esports?

The Club Championship is a cross-game competition within the Esports World Cup 2024.

The championship will distribute a total of £18m amongst the top 16 clubs, determined by their overall performance in various games throughout the tournament.

To qualify for the Club Championship, a club must finish in the top 8 in at least two competitions, and to win the championship title, the club must secure first place in at least one competition.

Esports World Cup 2024 points system

Clubs can enter their rosters in multiple titles, with those finishing 8th or higher in each competition earning points as follows:

  1. 1,000 points
  2. 600 points
  3. 350 points
  4. 200 points
  5. 11 points
  6. 70 points
  7. 30 points
  8. 20 points

Esports World Cup 2024 prize money

The Esports World Cup 2024 boasts a mammoth prize pool of over $62m, around £55m - the largest combined prize fund in esports history.

Prize money has been broken down into four categories:

  • Club Championship
  • Game Championships
  • Qualifiers
  • MVP Awards

The Club Championship will award $20m to the top 16 teams based on their overall performance, while each of the 20 Game Championships will have a combined prize pool of $33.8 million.

Teams will compete for more than $7 million during qualifying events, and the MVP of each event will be awarded $50,000.
