League of Legends - Mid-Season Invitational 2024: Prediction, Tips and Odds

The first major international League of Legends event of the year, the Mid-Season Invitational in Chengdu, China, is fast approaching, and it should not disappoint.

The S-Tier competition has a prize pool of $250,000 and pits the best League of Legends teams in the world against one another, including teams from China's LPL and South Korea's LCK.

JD Gaming are defending champions of the Mid-Season Invitational, having edged Bilbili Gaming in last year's final, but they have not qualified this time around.

That means a different champion will be crowned this year, and ahead of the competition's play-in stage, here is a look at how the latest MSI could unfold.

League of Legends - Mid-Season Invitational betting tips and predictions

Gen.G Esports to win Mid-Season Invitational - 5/2

Bilibili Gaming of China's LPL are red-hot favourites to win this year's League of Legends MSI and for good reason.

They head into this tournament on a 13-match winning streak, having taken down Top Esports both in the semi-finals and grand final en route to the LPL Spring title.

But Bilibili Gaming are by no means unbeatable, having finished 2023 in pretty poor form with two defeats in their last five games.

This year they have turned things around, aided by the additions of Liu "Knight" Yuxiang and Zuo "LvMao" Ming-Hao, but it is no foregone conclusion that they will win the Mid-Season Invitational.

Indeed, Gen.G could be the better outright pick.

They also come into this tournament in fine form, having won each of their last 14 matches, and they have a 20-1 record in 2024.

They are top of the world's League of Legends rankings and have won all three of their matches against fellow South Korean juggernauts R1 this year.

There is not a lot between them and Bilibili Gaming and at the prices, Gen.G are the pick to go the distance.

LCK to be region of winner - 1/1

Each of the last three Mid-Season Invitational titles have gone the way of Chinese teams, but it could be time for an LCK side to shine in Chengdu.

Those who like the look of Gen.G should consider backing the LCK to be the region of the winners at 1/1.

Aside from the LCK Spring champions, the other South Korean side in contention are T1.

T1 have enjoyed a strong season aside from their defeats to Gen.G and they have still won 17 of their 22 matches in 2024.

Bilibili Gaming lead the charge for a strong China contingent but South Korea's teams should also pose a threat.

Name the finalists - Bilibili Gaming and Gen.G - 10/3

It is not always the case in major tournaments such as this that the best two sides reach the final, but both Bilibili Gaming and Gen.G have been too strong to ignore this season.

The two sides have posted a total of 38 wins in their respective League of Legends divisions this season, and it is hard to see either faltering early in the competition.

They are ranked first and second in the League of Legends world rankings, and both went far at the League of Legends World Championship last year, with Gen.G reaching the quarter-finals and Bilibili Gaming making the last four.

With that in mind, they are worth backing to make up the MSI finalists at 10/3.
