For the first time since 2020, a BLAST event will take place in London this week as the iconic BLAST Premier Spring Finals return.
The event will bring an end to the first half of Counter-Strike 2 action in 2024 with eight teams to battle it out for a prize pool of $425,000.
The overall champions will claim $200,000 of that and will also secure a spot in the BLAST Premier World Final later this year.
FaZe Clan, Natus Vincere, Virtus.Pro, G2 Esports, Vitality and Astralis all qualified via the BLAST Premier Spring Groups, while the last two spots were awarded to SAW and Team Spirit, who came through the Spring Showdown.
It is the first big CS2 event of the year and promises to be a memorable tournament.
Team Vitality to win BLAST Premier Spring Final 2024 - 7/2
FaZe Clan are outright joint-favourites for the BLAST Premier Spring Finals at 3/1 but it is hard to get excited about a team who flopped at both the IEM Dallas and in season 19 of the ESL Pro League.
Although still ranked second in the world CS2 rankings, FaZe Clan placed in the 5th-6th positions in Dallas, having exited the ESL Pro League season at the quarter-final stage earlier this year.
It can be a dangerous game to turn your back on FaZe Clan but on this occasion there is better value elswhere in the outright betting.
G2 Esports might catch the eyes of some after their surprise title triumph at the IEM Dallas but Jake 'Stewie2k' Yip led the way for them on that occasion and he is set to be replaced by usual in-game leader Rasmus 'HooXi' Nielsen - it remains to be seen if that will be for the better or the worse.
Instead, it is world number three side Team Vitality who make an appeal at 7/2.
Vitality have been consistently in the mix for titles recently, firstly placing in the 3rd-4th positions at the CS2 Major Copenhagen in March before reaching the Grand Finals of both the ESL Pro League season 19 and the IEM Dallas 2024.
Losing those finals will have frustrated the roster but they have shown they can keep coming back and they have a not-so-secret weapon in William 'mezii' Merriman.
In-game leader and rifler 'mezii' is the only British player featuring at the BLAST Premier Spring Finals and he could benefit from a lively London crowd.
Vitality have won two BLAST LAN events with 'mezzii' in their side and this could be their time to shine.
Team Spirit to go further than FaZe Clan - 5/6
The Tournament Match-Ups market throws up some intriguing betting opportunities with punters able to bet on which teams they think will outperform one another.
And at 5/6, Team Spirit could be worth backing to do better than FaZe Clan.
As mentioned, FaZe Clan's recent tournament form has been questionable and they were even beaten 2-0 by Team Spirit at the IEM Dallas.
In that US event, Spirit managed to finish in the 3rd-4th positions, having also eased to wins over Natus Vincere and FlyQuest before losing 2-0 to Team Vitality.
Spirit are ranked fifth in the world, finished as runners-up at the BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 and could make an impact at the BLAST Premier Spring Finals.
