Esports: ESL Pro League Sunday matches

The final day of competition in Group D of the ESL Pro League will decide the final three teams to advance to the round of 12 tournament.

Cloud9 and FURIA Esports have all but secured their spot, Movistar Riders will not advance but they still have a chance to go out on a high note.

The final day of competition for the six teams in Group D should present plenty of opportunities for teams to show what they have in ESL Pro League Season 16 one last time.

The top two spots have all but been secured, but one final spot is still on the line.

It has been a crazy season 16 for the ESL Pro League, but it all comes down to the final day of competition as two of North America's best teams fight for the final bid in the round of 12.

Cloud9 and Liquid and Cloud9 kick off the action, and Liquid could really use the boost of confidence. Movistar Riders and Eternal Fire are all but out of contention, but should still be very competitive.

The final match-up in Group D is a huge clash between a couple of rivals as FURIA duke it out with Evil Geniuses.

Cloud9 has plenty of confidence as they have already secured their spot in the playoffs after winning their first three matches in Group D. They can put the finishing touches on their strong run by getting past Liquid.

Liquid is fighting to hold their ground on the third and final playoff berth from Group D. Cloud9 haven't given up a map loss thus far, and they will look to keep that trend going.

Liquid got the better of Cloud9 the last time the teams met at IEM Cologne 2022, as Liquid won on Vertigo 16-9, and closed the match out with a 16-11 victory on Dust2.

The teams also met during Season 15 of the ESL Pro League, but Liquid were outmatched and lost one of the maps 16-1.

EliGE has been a great team leader for Liquid, but they lack the firepower to stay with Cloud9 and their captain sh1ro, who has been outstanding.

Movistar should edge Eternal

Movistar Riders once again failed to secure a victory, and now they head into their final match of ESL Pro League Season 16 with no wins to show for. They have one last chance to get one as they face Eternal Fire, who haven't had a good run in this event either.

XANATARES has been a great leader for Eternal Fire, but the rest of the line-up hasn’t delivered. Movistar own a head-to-head win against Eternal Fire, but that was over a year ago.

It wasn't that strong of a showing for Eternal as they lost on Vertigo 16-9, before only scoring seven round wins on Nuke.

Movistar Riders haven't had much to be happy about, but alex and the rest of the team know how to deliver in the clutch, and in their final match of the event, the Riders have the means to edge out Eternal.

FURIA should outlast EG

OddsFURIA 2/9, Evil Geniuses 3/1

Evil Geniuses looks to have given themselves a chance to fight for the third and final birth into the round of 12 out of Group D after blowing past Movistar Riders in two maps.

The victory was the second for EG in Group play and now they must focus on a FURIA team who has all but secured their place in the round of 12.

EG has won two straight matches after starting the event in an early hole. They couldn't get the job done against Cloud9 or Liquid with the the loss to Liquid really putting them in a rough space.

FURIA had a huge showdown with the other undefeated team in Cloud9 so they could show a little vulnerability as they try not to overlook Evil Geniuses.

These two North American squads have been mainstays in ESL Pro League but haven't played each other in a while since major roster changes in the past year.

KSCERATO and autimatic will be two players to watch in what should be a closely-fought match-up, while Brehze and CeRq for EG have also made several important plays in their time in CS:GO.
