More than 1000 days have passed since the former unified welterweight king last stepped inside the ropes.
On that night in July 2023 Spence was comprehensively beaten by Terence Crawford, with Bud claiming a ninth-round stoppage to become undisputed at 147lbs.
That fight also marked the first time Spence had tasted defeat in his professional career, ending a run of 29 consecutive victories that had seen the American score wins over the likes of Kell Brook, Lamont Peterson, Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia.
Now the 36-year-old will look to offer a timely reminder of his ability when he takes on Australian former world champion Tim Tszyu at the Afterpay Arena on Saturday night.
After being stopped by Sebastian Fundora in their rematch last year Tszyu has bounced back with successive wins against lesser competition but he will enter the 12-round bout on home soil as the underdog.

Despite his extended hiatus from the sport, Errol Spence Jr enters this weekend's showdown as the favourite to get his hand raised at 4/5.
During his destructive run up the welterweight ranks Spence showcased his power with a streak of 13 consecutive stoppages between 2013 and 2018.
Tszyu has been stopped twice in his career, both times against Sebastian Fundora, and Spence is 2/1 to get the victory inside the scheduled 12-round distance in Sydney.
Both fighters have expressed their desire to close the show early, and the fight is 4/7 to end before the final bell and 5/4 to go the distance.
