Erling Haaland is 5/1 to break Alan Shearer's record of 260 Premier League goals.
The Manchester City forward might have fallen short of Jamie Vardy's record of scoring in 11 consecutive Premier League games, but he has scored in all bar two so far this season, and is averaging better than a goal a game with 13 in 10.
bet365’s Steve Freeth said: "A brace for the Norwegian at the Etihad would see Haaland smash Shearer’s record of reaching a century of goals in 124 appearances.
"Our 5/1 quote would be a lot shorter if Haaland was guaranteed to stay in the Premier League for the rest of his career, but it could only be a matter of time before Real Madrid start knocking on the door."
Indeed, if Haaland does stay in the Premier League, it would be a matter of when rather than if. His current rate of nearly a goal a game means that he's on track to break the record within the next five seasons.
Pep Guardiola has made a tweak to his tactical system this season, particularly in how he uses Haaland. Interestingly, Haaland has never had more than 40 touches in the defensive third in a season since moving to Manchester City; this season he's already on 32.
Haaland is now being asked to drop much deeper with the aim of luring defenders with him, allowing his pace to break clear of the defence, as seen to devastating effect against Bournemouth.
The move is paying off; Haaland's best shots on target season per 90 was last season when he put up 1.81, but that's already being smashed with his 2.63 shots on target per 90 this season, and his non-penalty expected goals/90 tally of 1.07 comfortably clears his 0.81/90 season from two years ago.
