Epsom Horse Racing Tips for Saturday including the Derby

All eyes are on Derby day at Epsom on Saturday and ITV are airing five live races from the Downs, including the big one at 4.30.

Here are the latest horse racing betting tips for Saturday's card at Epsom from Racing Post tipster Robbie Wilders.

4/1
16:30 Epsom - Ambiente Friendly @
6/1

14:35 Epsom - Embesto @ 7/2

The Diomed Stakes is wide open on paper but there is a chance EMBESTO could be a cut above these rivals.

The son of Roaring Lion has only raced six times and quickly progressed to an excellent level, registering a Racing Post Rating of 110 only 10 weeks after he made his debut last May. That RPR isn’t far off a typical winner of the Diomed and most of these rivals arrive out of form.

Admittedly the Roger Varian-trained four-year-old wasn’t at his best on his return in the Earl of Sefton Stakes at Newmarket on his comeback as he was too headstrong. However, fitting him with a first-time hood and dropping a furlong in trip on a sharper course looks the correct move and can enable him to raise his game.

The ground is expected to dry out at Epsom on Saturday and that is going to suit the selection.

15:45 Epsom - Silky Wilkie @ 4/1

A 15-runner turnout for the Dash is much lower than usual and the presence of the 111-rated Clarendon House means five of the field will race from out of the weights.

However, one who won’t be badly in is SILKY WILKIE, who was a short-head second in this last season despite being blocked in his run. He had a head to spare over Clarendon House that day and will reoppose with that rival off 19lb better terms, yet there isn’t much between the pair in the early betting.

Silky Wilkie is going to eventually prove just how well treated he is off 99 and has every chance of bouncing back with Clifford Lee taking over from an apprentice.

Lee's mount is drawn bang against the stands’ side rail which is no bad place to be and, if the first-time cheekpieces have a positive effect, Karl Burke’s speedball possesses the class to take this in style.

16:30 Epsom - Ambiente Friendly @ 6/1

AMBIENTE FRIENDLY is not bred to win a Derby, but such was the positive impression he created when storming home in his trial at Lingfield, he is difficult to pass over.

He recorded an outstanding time in that contest and the performance bodes well for his ability to handle this tricky track. The only other winner of a trial who scored so emphatically was Economics, who isn’t running here after his Dante romp.

The ground is set to be quicker on Derby day than many anticipated in the week and that will suit Ambiente Friendly, who is drawn in the middle of the action (stall six) and that would hardly put you off.

The son of Gleneagles is still being underestimated in the market for this open running in light of his connections and unusual pedigree for an Epsom Classic.

The clock says he has a cracking chance and he is expected to be bang there for James Fanshawe.
