Auguste Rodin bounced back from a poor showing in the 2000 Guineas to win the 244th Derby at Epsom.
The victory is the ninth in the race for Aidan O’Brien, who produced a truly incredible training performance to transform the fortunes of the three-year old.
Ridden by Ryan Moore, Auguste Rodin, who is now 7/2 favourite to win the St Leger, chased down 66/1 outsider King of Steel to win by a length.
There was no final Derby victory for Frankie Dettori, with favourite Arrest never in the frame, while the highly-fancied Military Order faded badly to finish last of the field.
It was the second victory on the day for Moore, who was triumphant on board Regal Reality in the Group 3 Diomed Stakes, a race named after the first ever Derby winner.
The Derby was then followed by another Group 3 affair, with Dettori able to bounce back from his disappointment by steering favourite Prosperous Voyage to victory.
Connor Beasley produced a fine ride to guide Tatterstall to a handicap victory over five furlongs, while a competitive dash saw Navello pip Silky Wilkie and Clarendon House to victory on the line.
John and Thady Gosden will believe they have another good one on their hands, with Torito’s convincing display in the Lester Piggott Handicap likely to lead to sterner tests.
Elsewhere on the card, Sheer Rocks followed up his Ascot success to win the Northern Dancer, while Hollie Doyle took the last on board Badri.
Hollie Doyle and Ruth Carr take the final race of the Derby Festival as Badri wins the JRA Tokyo Trophy at 10/1
