The international break is upon us, and we’ve priced up England to win their remaining qualifying games at 11/4.
We’re halfway through the qualifying stage, with England already recording an impressive win over Italy in Naples before thrashing North Macedonia 7-0 at Old Trafford.
Though cynics may scoff at the North Macedonia result, this was a side that beat Italy in Palermo to deny the European champions a shot at qualifying for the World Cup, and of course they qualified for the Euros last time around.
bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “England reached the halfway stage of qualification with a thumping 7-0 victory over North Macedonia and are well placed to finish with a 100% record having beaten Italy in their own backyard in the group opener back in March.
“A lot has happened to Harry Kane since he became England’s all-time record goalscorer on that night in Naples, and the bad news for the Ukrainian defenders is that Bayern Munich’s new No.9 has already hit the ground running in Germany as he looks to continue his run of scoring in every group game.”
With less than a year until the Finals, Gareth Southgate may look to tinker with his strongest XI, but any tinkering could make the side even stronger.
Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson both started in the 7-0 win over North Macedonia, but Southgate must surely be looking towards the future.
Jude Bellingham didn’t feature that day, nor did Mason Mount, while Phil Foden came off the bench.
Defensively, Levi Colwill, Lewis Dunk and Fikayo Tomori have all shown much more at club level over the last 12 months than Maguire, and Southgate has ample opportunity to blood some of his lesser experienced players.
The Three Lions only have one qualifying game in this international break, with one more at home to Italy in October, finishing the campaign in mid-November at home to Malta and away to North Macedonia.
