EFL Fantasy Gameweek 11 Preview: Suggested picks, captain, differentials and more

After a reduced schedule last week, all 72 Football League clubs are in action following the conclusion of the international break.

It's the second Double Gameweek of the season which we are getting our teeth stuck into and as such, there are a plethora of players who could record major points hauls and help you surge the standings.

We've detailed the players and teams to consider for Gameweek 11 of EFL Fantasy.

Goalkeepers to consider

Joe Whitworth (Exeter City) - The Grecians goalkeeper has kept four consecutive clean sheets and accumulated 36 points in that period. Whitworth encounters Shrewsbury Town (A) and Reading (H), with the latter mustering two points from a possible 12 on their travels.

James Trafford (Burnley) - Though Scott Parker will be eager to rectify Burnley's goalscoring woes, the Clarets will take pride in their defensive resilience having conceded the second-fewest goals in the Championship so far. With away fixtures to Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City, that form can continue.

Sam Tickle (Wigan Athletic) - Like Whitworth, Tickle has been in tremendous form and has been a pivotal factor in a Wigan side that have recorded six consecutive shutouts. The 22-year-old has an enticing fixture against bottom-of-the-table Cambridge United (A) before the Latics welcome high-flying Mansfield Town (H).

Defenders to consider

Mickey Demetriou (Crewe Alexandra) - The man who should need no introduction, Demetriou is the highest-scoring player in EFL Fantasy and has emerged as an essential figure with his consistent hauls. The central defender is averaging 9.3 points per fixture and racked up nine points against Doncaster, despite the Railwaymen failing to keep a clean sheet.

Junior Firpo (Leeds United) - Scoring a panenka during the international break, Firpo is in excellent form and returned 30 points from Leeds' previous four league fixtures. A tight match beckons against Sheffield United (H) before Daniel Farke's side entertain Watford (H), which presents a clean sheet opportunity with Watford struggling on the road since their opening success against Millwall.

Ethan Pye (Stockport County) - With the exception of their 4-1 defeat to Leyton Orient, Stockport have been a difficult team to beat this term and Pye has been at the heart of a backline that have kept back-to-back clean sheets. The Hatters now face Charlton Athletic (A) and Northampton Town (H), who rank 15th and 19th in League One for xG respectively.

Will Aimson (Wigan Athletic) - As mentioned above regarding Tickle, Wigan's rearguard has been impenetrable since their 2-1 defeat to Birmingham at the end of August and Aimson is hard to ignore, tallying 13 clearances and seven tackles in the Latics' previous two fixtures.

Tristan Crama (Exeter City) - Brentford loanee Crama was absent from Exeter's triumph over Cambridge with illness but is expected to return to Gary Caldwell's XI. One to keep an eye on, but his points-scoring run of 11, 7, 7, 8 and 10, coupled with the Grecians' enticing fixtures, make him a potentially valuable asset.

Championship

Midfielders to consider

Luke Molyneux (Doncaster Rovers) - The mercurial magician has caused a few headaches for EFL Fantasy managers, with 19-point hauls against Accrington Stanley and Port Vale tainted by several two-point returns and even a minus two against Chesterfield following a red card. The winger has returned from his suspension in good form and with encouraging fixtures against Swindon Town (A) and Bromley (H), expect him to continue his streak of goal involvements.

George Saville (Millwall) - Interceptions are just as valuable as goals in EFL Fantasy and Saville is accomplished at breaking up opposition forays. Millwall have consecutive home fixtures against Derby County and Plymouth Argyle, of which both will threaten on transition. Saville averages 8.75 points in matches at The Den this term.

Kwame Poku (Peterborough United) - A large quantity of clubs will be sniffing around Poku after his electrifying start to the season and the Ghanaian is a key cog in an incisive Peterborough attack. The winger has six goal involvements in his last seven appearances and is currently the League One top scorer alongside Mansfield's Lee Gregory.

CJ Hamilton (Blackpool) - Steve Bruce's arrival marked an upturn in fortunes for Blackpool and has also resulted in a significant improvement in Hamilton's EFL Fantasy output. Averaging 3 points per game prior to Bruce's appointment, the versatile midfielder has averaged 8.2 under his new manager and his tally of interceptions are likely to increase against two attacking sides in Barnsley (H) and Peterborough (A).

Jack Rudoni (Coventry City) - We're approaching the time of year when Coventry spark into life and summer capture Rudoni will be crucial in ending the Sky Blues' rut. The all-action midfielder recorded consecutive 10-point hauls against Blackburn and Sheffield Wednesday, which included a goal against the Owls. Away matches at Preston and QPR will enable the 23-year-old to showcase his broad skillset.

Forwards to consider

Nathan Lowe (Walsall) - On loan from Stoke City, the highly-rated striker has flourished in the early stages of his stint at the Bescot, netting four goals and registering three assists in eight appearances. Lowe scored both goals in the 2-2 draw against Chesterfield and with fixtures against Grimsby (A) and Carlisle (H), who have conceded a combined 41 goals this term, there's scope for the teenager to add to his tally.

Andy Cook (Bradford City) - We'll never grow tired of Cook and his goalscoring antics for Bradford. The veteran striker leads the League Two scoring charts with seven goals, which includes three in his last two matches. The Bantams face Gillingham (H) on Saturday, and though the Gills' defensive record is impressive, Mark Bonner's side have conceded an xG of 14.2, the seventh-highest in the league. Bradford's other opponents, Cheltenham Town (A), are marginally above Gillingham in the xG conceded column.

Borja Sainz (Norwich City) - Norwich's tantalising, free-flowing football is extracting the maximum from their attacking talents and Spaniard Sainz is one to flourish, netting seven goals in nine appearances this term. Somewhat frustratingly, 24 points against Derby and 15 points against Hull sandwiched a two-point return against Leeds, but away fixtures at Stoke City and Preston North End - two sides who both rank in the top seven for chances conceded - offers Sainz plenty of incentive to extend his fabulous streak.

Dion Charles (Bolton Wanderers) - Charles' start to the season somewhat mirrors Bolton's form but there are signs that Ian Evatt has the Trotters heading in the right direction. Charles xGOT (Expected goals on target) is the highest in League One, as is his tally of big chances missed. Eventually something has to give, and a home encounter with struggling Burton Albion presents an opportunity to improve his tally. Bolton visit Birmingham City on Tuesday and while the task of leaving St Andrew's with points in the bag is a daunting one, the Blues do leak goals, keeping just two clean sheets in the league this season.

League One

Captain picks

Mickey Demetriou (Crewe Alexandra) - Given the defender is averaging 9.3 points per match, Demetriou is a contender for captaincy irrespective of Crewe's opponents.

Luke Molyneux (Doncaster Rovers) - There's an element of risk and reward to Molyneux. There's every chance he fails to deliver, but when he does put on a show, the sheer volume of points he provides will prove invaluable. Tasty encounters against Swindon and Bromley make him an appealing pick for the armband.

Borja Sainz (Norwich City) - Though the Canaries are on the road in both of their Gameweek 11 fixtures, Johannes Hof Thorup's side look a tantalising proposition and Sainz will likely be at the forefront of their goalscoring exploits.

Club picks

Port Vale
Fixtures: Fleetwood (H), Harrogate (A)

The Valiants appear to have found their groove under Darren Moore, sitting top of League Two and are unbeaten in their previous seven league fixtures, conceding just five. The visit of Fleetwood presents a tricky test but one they're capable of prevailing in before they hit the road to face Harrogate Town, with Vale boasting the best away record in the division.

MK Dons
Fixtures: Morecambe (A), Accrington (H)

One of the favourites for the title in pre-season, it's been an underwhelming start to the campaign for MK but the arrival of Scott Lindsey as the club's new manager indicates they will start pushing on sooner or later. Fixtures against two outfits struggling at the bottom end of the table present ideal opportunities to initiate that, with Morecambe winless at home and Accrington losing four of five on their travels.

League Two

Differentials

Riley Harbottle (AFC Wimbledon - Ownership: 0.2%) - Signed from Hibernian in August, AFC Wimbledon have kept five clean sheets in six matches with Harbottle present on the right side of a back three. A midweek home fixture against Morecambe presents a clean sheet opportunity, while Harbottle can add to his tally of 30 clearances and 11 tackles against an enterprising Notts County attack.

Tomoki Iwata (Birmingham City - Ownership: 0.1%) - Iwata's forged a fruitful partnership with Paik Seung-ho in Birmingham's engine room and the Japanese midfielder is averaging 6.5 points per game since his deadline day switch from Celtic. With goals in his locker and a role which involves disrupting opposition attacks, Iwata could be an astute pick.

Aaron Morley (Wycombe Wanderers - Ownership: 0.1%) - Morley's proven to be a shrewd acquisition since his loan move from Bolton and the technician has been an instrumental figure in Wycombe's early success. The 24-year-old was absent from the Chairboys' triumph over Crawley with illness but if fit, Morley may prove a successful differential as Wycombe face a leaky Peterborough defence before travelling to a Burton side still searching for their first win.

Ethon Archer (Cheltenham Town - Ownership: 0.4%) - The joint fourth-highest scoring midfielder in EFL Fantasy, Cheltenham architect Archer presents a tidy pick-up after recording 31 points in his previous two matches. A total of six goal involvements are blended by 11 interceptions and 14 key passes, demonstrating his ability to mix it at both ends in matches against Colchester (A) and Bradford (H).

Sam Nombe (Rotherham United - Ownership: 0.3%) - Nombe is in fine fettle after scoring in three consecutive matches and Rotherham have seemingly unearthed the finishing touch to the abundance of chances they've created, with no side recording a higher xG or missing more big chances. Wrexham's resilient rearguard will be a tough nut to crack before a trip to the capital to face Leyton Orient, though it's difficult to ignore a forward whose confidence is soaring.
