Rob Edwards and Neil Lennon have been mooted as potential replacements for under-fire Leicester City manager Russell Martin.
The former Rangers boss has received significant criticism following Leicester's underwhelming start to the new season.
After suffering back-to-back relegations, Leicester were installed as the League One promotion favourites prior to the start of the campaign.
However, the Foxes have simply not got going following the appointment of Martin in the summer.
Leicester find themselves 17th in the League One table after picking up nine points from their opening eight league games.
Martin has regularly faced the wrath of the club's supporters but the criticism reached a new level at the weekend as they lost 3-1 at home to Peterborough United.
It is believed that Martin is running out of time just two months into the new season and the former Scotland international will know that he needs to start winning games fast.
Speaking on the Market Madness podcast, journalist Ben Jacobs stated that a change could be imminent and there are two names who already stand out.
"He needs instant results otherwise the expectation is that Leicester will make a change.
"There’s already some people within Leicester, according to my information, that are pushing for a change now.
“Neil Lennon is one candidate I’m told would be interested in the role, Rob Edwards is appreciated too.”
Edwards is out of work since being relieved of his duties at Wolverhampton Wanderers on the eve of the new season.
A potential move for Edwards would appear to be an ambitious one given Leicester's current position and the fact that Edwards has operated in the Premier League and the upper echelons of the Championship in recent times.
Dunfermline Athletic boss Neil Lennon could be a more achievable appointment and he remains a popular figure in the East Midlands after representing Leicester during his playing career.
