It is scarcely believable that Tommy Fury, who is yet to claim even a Central Area title, has remained unbeaten over the past eight or so years.
This fact becomes a little more believable, however, when you consider that all of his 11 professional wins have come against a selection of online influencers and journeymen.
It is far from the most conventional fighting career but, even so, Fury has only benefited from both a financial and profile perspective.
By not rolling the dice against a hardened pro, the 27-year-old remains relevant in the world of Misfits Boxing as he looks to tackle a literal man mountain this Saturday.
Built more like Kilimanjaro than Everest, the 6ft 3ins Eddie Hall is likely to boast around 340lbs of bulk when they square off at Manchester's AO Arena.
This, compared to the expected 210lb frame of Fury, equates to a mammoth size and strength advantage.
Yet how effective will this prove in their six, two-minute rounds exhibition match?
From the perspective of Fury, it is far more beneficial to be light on your feet in a sport like boxing, where an individual’s prowess is measured largely by their ability to read, and react to, their opponent’s movements.
“I’m obviously not going to beat Eddie in a pushing and shoving contest,” Fury admitted during their Face Off on DAZN recently.
My aim in the fight isn’t to be the bigger, stronger man; my aim in the fight is to be the boxer, and float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.
- Tommy Fury (DAZN)
“I’m not a middleweight moving around - I’m still 15 stone [210lbs]. In boxing terms, that’s big. When I bring that, with the speed and the movement - and the feints, and the up and down [attacks], and the awkwardness - we’ll see [what happens].”
Fury’s advantages in speed, general athleticism and overall boxing skills have contributed to his status as a 1/4 pre-fight favourite.
As the former World’s Strongest Man, though, Hall will be looking to land just one meaningful shot, believing he has the power to swiftly change the complexion of their encounter.
The 38-year-old has never boxed professionally but did have an exhibition match with fellow strongman Hafthor Bjornsson in 2022.
A chaotic second round saw Hall score two knockdowns, before getting floored in the following frame and ultimately losing on points.
Other than that, Hall has been involved in just two combat sports events, winning a frankly bizarre 2-on-1 tag-team match against the ‘Nefati brothers’ in 2023, before triumphing in another MMA match against fellow strongman Mariusz Pudzianowski in April 2025.
It is therefore difficult to envision the Stoke-on-Trent star having more than a few fleeting moments of success against Fury, who should manage to stay out of trouble by simply utilising his mobility and gas tank.
Whether ‘TNT’ can put a dent in his opponent with 12oz gloves remains to be seen, but it is worth noting that cruiserweight prospect Lucas Roehrig did seem to hurt Hall to the body in sparring.
Hall shared a few clips of their rounds via an Instagram post on May 13, which showed Roehrig getting the better of him on several occasions.
The 23-year-old does, in fairness, appear to have a higher ceiling than Fury, but the fact that Hall could not successfully defend himself against a dynamic cruiserweight suggests that, this weekend, it would take something particularly out of the ordinary for him to emerge victorious.
