MVG is third in the betting to capture his first title since the World Series of Darts Finals in September last year, priced at 4/1, a slightly bigger price than the 3/1 on offer for world champion Luke Humphries and 7/2 price available on Bahrain Darts Masters winner Luke Littler.
But with the 16-player field for the event stronger than that of any other World Series event, the tournament looks to be wide open, with former world champions Gerwyn Price (13/2), Michael Smith (9/1), Rob Cross (11/1) and Peter Wright (25/1) all hoping to flex their muscles.
Raymond van Barneveld, one of the eight Benalux representatives, is 50/1 to roll back the years in his home country, whilst defending champion Dimitri van den Bergh can be backed to reclaim his crown at 33/1.
