Esports: Dota 2 Xmas Show Wednesday Preview

The final stages of the Dota 2 BetBoom Xmas Show 2022 are in play as the last six teams remaining duke it out for the ultimate prize of $50,000, which is split between the top four finishers.

Tuesday's matches at this event didn't disappoint, with NGX getting sent home early after they were one of the top four seeds heading into the playoffs of this event.

As for Team Spirit, they were able to reach the Upper-bracket final and will have to get past Gaimin Gladiators for an automatic berth in the Grand Final.

There are a couple of elimination matches taking place on Wednesday's slate of this Dota 2 event. Two of the six remaining teams will be sent home after this round of matches and we take a look at what's coming up on Wednesday.

HellRaisers looking for revenge against Nemiga

What: HellRaisers v Nemiga Gaming
Where: Europe
When: 11:00, Wednesday 28th December
Odds: Hellraisers 4/6, Nemiga 11/10

HellRaisers and Nemiga Gaming are in a win or go home situation as the teams meet in a lower-bracket match.

Nemiga couldn't beat GG in their Upper-bracket quarter-final match and fell to the bottom of the bracket. They were able to eliminate PC to reach this match with HellRaisers.

As for HellRaisers, they upset NGX in the first round, then fell short in the second round 2-1 against Team Spirit. Now they have a chance to keep playing if they can get past Nemiga.

The teams have already met once during this event, and that resulted in a 2-0 victory for Nemiga. This is now their fifth overall meeting in 2022. HellRaisers had their number in all of the other matches between the teams this season.

Nemiga might have had better luck earlier in this event, but HellRaisers haven't forgotten that loss - backing HellRaisers at 4/6 for a revenge win is the right move here.

Entity have hit their mark

What: Virtus.Pro v Entity
Where: Europe
When: 14:00, Wednesday 28th December
Odds: Virtus 5/4, Entity 4/7

Virtus.Pro couldn't stay in the upper-bracket and now they must take on Entity who have already been a rough foe for teams with high respect in Dota 2.

These teams have met three other times in 2022 and Virtus were able to win the most recent of those matches 2-0. They will need another strong effort as Entity are coming off a 2-1 win against NGX who were among the favourites to win this event.

This is a do or die match for both teams. Virtus fell to this match after a 2-0 defeat against GG, who are now in the Upper-bracket final.

Virtus.Pro haven't had very much overall success in Dota 2 in recent memory as they didn't partake in any major events this season.

Their most recent high-level event was at The International 2021 where they finished in the 5th-6th spot. With plenty of new faces on this roster, including a very recent addition of krylat on 23rd December, things are going to be tough for the team.

Entity are for sure the better team to back at 4/7.

Gladiators have edge over Spirit

What: Team Spirit v Gladiators
Where: Europe
When: 17:00, Wednesday 28th December
Odds: Team Spirit 8/15, Gladiators 11/8

A spot in the Grand Final of BetBoom Xmas Show is on the line for either Gaimin Gladiators or Team Spirit. Both teams were able to win their first two matches of the playoffs.

GG were able to beat Nemiga Gaming 2-0 and followed that up with a 2-0 win against Virtus.pro. Team Spirit meanwhile grabbed a win against Entity in the first round. They then held on to a 2-1 win against HellRaisers.

Gladiators are fresh off a 9th-12th place finish at The International 2022 and had a very productive 2022 season overall. Team Spirit didn't have a very good showing at that same event as they couldn't get out of the opening rounds of the event.

Other than that, 2022 was a good campaign for the team as they finished runner up at Riyadh Masters 2022.

The last head-to-head match for GG and Team Spirit was at ESL One Stockholm which took place earlier this year. That match saw GG easily win over Spirit 2-0.

Gladiators have plenty of flavour in their roster with dyrachyo and Quinn leading the charge. Quinn is the biggest roster change for the team as he was just added earlier this month.

Spirit lacks the firepower to outlast GG and the Gladiators at 11/8 holds value.
