Dominic Solanke Next Club Odds: Betting suspended on Bournemouth forward joining Tottenham

Betting has now been suspended on Dominic Solanke joining Tottenham following a flurry of bets on the move.

bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “Our opening show of 3/1 was gobbled up on Tuesday and we’ve seen plenty of punters helping themselves to the 1/2 about Solanke joining Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.

“His release clause of £65m is out in the open and with Spurs on the lookout for more quality up top he could be an ideal fit, with solid reports of the North London club being given the green light to progress with the deal."

Following the best Premier League goalscoring campaign of his career - netting 19 times in England's top flight - Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke is being linked with a big-money transfer away from the Cherries.

Receiving the Golden Ball as the player of the tournament as England won the Under 20s World Cup in 2017, Solanke had a big reputation coming through the youth ranks at Chelsea.

The striker eventually ended up at Liverpool but was unable to establish himself in the first team under Jurgen Klopp, scoring just one goal in 27 appearances for the Reds.

Solanke's next step was to join Bournemouth for £19m in January 2019, and despite a difficult start to life on the south coast - scoring just three goals in his first 42 Premier League appearances - the Englishman was able to rebuild his Cherries career in the Championship.

A 15-goal season in the second tier in 2020/21 was backed up by a career-best 29-goal haul the following year as Bournemouth were promoted back to the Premier League.

Solanke has now been able to prove himself in the top flight, registering 13 goal involvements in 2022/23 - six goals and seven assists - before truly catching fire last term, with his total of 19 goals bettered by only Alexander Isak, Cole Palmer and Erling Haaland.

Now aged 26, Solanke has developed into an all-round striker - with his athleticism and ability to bring others into the game now combined with a clinical edge in front of goal.

Naturally, Solanke's impressive form for Bournemouth appears to have attracted interest in his services, with Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham reportedly lining up a move for the striker.

Having opted not to directly replace Harry Kane following his big-money move to Bayern Munich last summer, perhaps Spurs feel now is the time to invest in a new bona fide number nine to fill his shoes in the form of Solanke.
