NRL: Dolphins sign winger Lee

The Dolphins have made another addition to their roster for the inaugural 2023 NRL campaign after signing Edrick Lee to a two-year-contract.

Lee, who plays on the wing or at centre, is currently on the books of Newcastle and will see the season out with the Knights before making the switch to Redcliffe.

Injury issues

Lee missed the entire 2021 season through injury and was initially handed a train and trial deal for the 2022 season. That was eventually upgraded to a one-year deal.

After spending the first five weeks playing reserve grade, Lee made his step up to first-grade as injuries ripped into the Knights squad.

He has played in the last five games and scored his first try in the 16-6 win over the Bulldogs in the Magic Round on Friday.

Reader salutes signings

Dolphins CEO Terry Reader is delighted with their latest addition and believes it is another strong signing for their debut season.

“We have seen Edrick’s class at the highest level and are excited he will be part of the Dolphins first ever team,” Reader said.

“We have also admired the fight Edrick has shown to make his way back from a series of foot injuries to re-establish himself in the NRL.

“It is this type of attitude that gives us confidence he will be a major contributor for the Dolphins in 2023 and beyond.

“The Dolphins are pleased to be able to bring another Queensland product back to their home state to be part of a historic time for the club.”
