Derek Chisora takes on heavyweight rival Otto Wallin in his final UK outing this weekend, and Boxing News writer Shaun Brown takes a closer look at the fight and highlights where he feels the betting value can be found.
Derek Chisora and Otto Wallin meet at Manchester’s Co-Op Live Arena on Saturday in an IBF heavyweight world title eliminator.
Chisora’s long storied career is finally winding down with his 49th and penultimate fight topping Queensberry Promotions ‘The Last Dance’ card.
The 41-year-old has been enjoying an extended Indian Summer and with the right opponent he is rarely in a dull fight.
The choice, though, to bring in a tricky Swedish southpaw seems a bizarre one for a veteran heavyweight, nicknamed ‘War’, who loves a scrap.
Chisora has been in with a who’s who of the heavyweight division since his first fight with Tyson Fury in 2011, and has fought every style you can think of but only excelled against those he can overpower or those who choose to meet him in the middle.
Wallin’s record, 27-2 (15 KOs), may not be perfect but his only losses have come against Fury and Anthony Joshua.
The Swede’s world title chances are on the clock, however, and I believe he will frustrate Chisora, keep him at distance with his jab and box his way to a points win.
